What a lot of people don't realize and really ought to listen in on is the name of the company, or who did the study. While it might be bad news, in a twisted way, it is also a way to get their name out on the news and to forget about the really important things such as government corruption, the latest war in Iraq or how we can't save money because someone sold companies on the idea that if they hoard money and not treat their workers right, it'll be for the benefit of the company.
I mean, when or how did this get so bad or so extreme? Why hasn't someone yelled that the "Emperor Doesn't have any clothes?" It's because when they do, that voice of reason gets silenced by getting arrested, ignoring them like a street preacher, or even killed? It's a sad fact, and its why it makes so many of us who are activists and passionate about the authentic things in life want to bash our heads against the wall sometimes.
Maybe it's the reason why so many of us don't want to take up that cause like we used to because are afraid that we are going to get in trouble and that there will be a permanent bad mark on our record that will prevent us from getting that new job or otherwise. Unfortunately, there are also companies afraid of people like us who see through the fear because they know that we know what they are really up to (and have the documents to prove it). In the age of social media however, they can run, but they can't exactly hide (and neither can we).
Here's the way I look at it and I've always believed this: If you feel in your heart, mind, and soul that the world is a bad place and that life sucks, it will be EXACTLY what you will attract in your life. In other words, why are you letting a news story turn you into a hermit? Why are you not going on there and taking a risk on something you never thought of or consider doing before? Where is your sense of adventure man?
So what's the cure? Start doing some deep introspection. Every psychologist, psychic, astrologer, and any kind of counselor or guru that you know or can think of says this. They make money from saying this stuff. So why do they always have to preach the same message in their own way? Perhaps we just don't listen because we heard it all before in a religious setting and otherwise.
Even so, this fear thing at some point needs to break. There needs to come to a point where one day we all wake up and say to ourselves, "What the hell are we doing?" "Why how, as a country we've been living in this constant state of fear all these years?"
Perhaps we all need a severe wake up call to wake us up. What it is, I don't know. However, when it happens a lot of us are just going to stand there, shaking our heads saying, "I told you so."
