My boyfriend had done similar games like this before, but it was mostly online. This time he can use this on his phone and he actually gets active in doing things. After I looked into it, I saw that there were things I've always wanted to do that I had not done before and soon I got hooked. We're both at Level 4 of the game right now.
Now, I know a few of you out there are going to be critical of this and say, why say, "why do you need a game app for motivation or to do something with your life? It's called getting off your butt and just being motivated to do something." Well, some people need incentives and a different way of looking at things. In addition, since my boyfriend is a gamer, it makes sense that he would do something like that, and it even had a task to improve or write out a resume. You can even add your own tasks to increase your levels even more.
Think of the people who have used apps to help them with their exercise routines. It keeps them on track and since they check their phones everyday for messages and what-not, it just makes a little bit more sense.
Since I discovered this game and looked at it with him, I've discovered that my boyfriend and I can generate ideas to do things together when we both have time or he has a day off. So, in a weird way, the nerdy side of me is having a relationship with the nerdy side of him. So, somehow I think this is going to make us a little closer.
Of course, at one point, my boyfriend wanted to make it a small competition. I had thought about it at first and thought it was an idea, but then I was like...why even bother? Why not just make it something both of us can do together and go to different places with each other? Because there are some unexplored places in my own city I'd like to check out some time or even in another city as well.
I might even make a few Youtube videos on some of these adventures. :)
